Dancers

2 more cut paper compositions. Expressions of my love for dance. In the first one, I've used one of my floral pastel paintings. 30 minutes to 2006! Thanks to everyone for sharing their art & soul...and for all the wonderful comments. As for resolutions: As I start a new phase in my life, empty nesting in New York with my husband, I plan to take advantage of all that New York has to offer while continuing to practice, learn and refine my fine art. Another biggie: to GET OUT and mingle; exchange ideas; make new friends and try to stay healthy so I can paint ’til I drop many many years from now. Now I gotta go get the champagne ready. See y’all next year!

More Fun with Cut Paper

Good ol' paper and scissors like making snowflakes in grade school art class. I like to experiment with different folds...ie. I accordian folded with the folds converging on a point to cut the figures dancing in a circle. The decorative background was created using a french fold and diagonal fold combination. Nothing is drawn, it's just me, the paper, the scissors and Photoshop...and in this case, Planes, Trains and Automobiles on the TV.

I made a card this afternoon for friends who have a summer home in Hilton Head. This is their Hilton Head house around which I created a snowy Christmas eve.

Experiment

I drew this while lying down.

Allie

Watercolor sketch of my daughter, Allison, on a summer day. Off season, I know, but I'm not finished with anything wintery yet. OK, not started yet, either.

Blind Contour Friday

This is a thrown ceramic, painted and spot glazed vase I bought at an art fair years ago. It's decorated with 3 funky women in bikinis. Enjoy.

bubby looking for drugs

I hadn't realized that there was a "draw an animal" challenge between the ceramic and medicine cabinet challenges. This was my first attempt at the medicine cabinet...which was interrupted by you-know-who, as I often am. After seeing the draw an animal challenge...I just had to throw this one up...as is. OK..I rearranged a few things in the cabinet, too...for aesthetic reasons...for the final drawing.

Newport Livingroom

This is a bad (blurry) scan of a pastel painting I did of the living room in our Newport, KY house...while sitting on the couch. The nice thing about doing a painting of your livingroom is you can leave out all the clutter; shoes, papers, clothes, empty glasses, books and magazines, laundry, dustballs, things the cat dragged in, etc. I mean, if that's what YOUR livingroom looks like. The end.

Corpse #2

I started this one off. The woman in my section faces backward and looks over her shoulder. The second section continues her body facing front. Wierd, huh? Especially all the added appendages. Check out anexquisitecorpse.net for more.

Chloe

I've been rewriting & refining a poem I wrote about Chloe to go with this picture...but it just makes me too sad...so here is the picture. I lost Chloe a little over a month ago (chronic renal failure). I have posted couple of earlier pictures of her. It happened kind of suddenly...and I had no idea it would hit me so hard and stay with me so long. What a sweet soul.

My First Corpse

Sounds like a new toy for this holiday season, but it's not. This is my first anexquisitecorpse.com corpse. My "section" is the second from the top, of four (divided horizontally). I am currently working on the final section of my third corpse. I highly recommend participation in this fine-art-by-unpredictable-collaboration "game", if for no other reason than to enjoy the "critique" of completed corpses.

BCF

For the first attempt, I thought I would try to capture this thing I do with my mouth called "railroad mouth"...where I skew my lips on a diagonal one way...and then the other way...making a sort of flashing X like a railroad sign (learned from my ballet teacher when I was in the first grade). The second attempt was actually my 4th attempt. At this point, I was getting a little frustrated with just getting something that looked like a face!...Then I said to myself, Lynne, stop trying to compete with Wally.. you KNOW he cheats. And then I said...LYNNE! you can't put that in your blog, what's wrong with you...slap slap slap slapp...ok OK I'm sorry,... geeze

Distraction

It's always dangerous for me to start picking up painted fall leaves when I'm on a morning walk. At some point, I have to force my eyes forward and resist the urge to scan for more fallen treasures, turning my walk into a day-long obsession and missing crucial phone calls from potential employers. These are some of the leaves I found today. If anyone called...please call back on Monday.
