Town Dock, Port Washington

This is a composite of several sketches done with a brush pen, with color washes added in Photoshop. Town Dock is just a few blocks from our house, so we spend much time here sketching people, boats, water and eachother. Today was a particularly beautiful day...and a great day to fish.

These sketches are great! Your lines are so firm -- I find I make 10 tentative lines instead of one committed one! You are an inspriation, as always! I have a brush pen, but it makes quite wide strokes. You must have a narrower one?

I have a few different sizes. It takes practice, but line weight with a brush pen is determined more by the pressure you use as you stroke, than by the size of the tip...much like the tip of a watercolor brush. Thank you for your comments!

I love these, they do a wonderful job of capturing a feeling of the place when all mixed together!
