Another pastel painting done from a photo I took of our three daughters at Virginia Beach. The photo is from the mid 90’s. I did the painting just a couple of months ago (therapy for a job loss after eight years). I was slightly obsessed with capturing the translucence and movement of the surf, and the brilliance and warmth of sunshine on our three bathing beauties. This particular work has been tweaked numerous times, and may never be completed to my satisfaction. I keep fussing with the front facing figure (my second born daughter), which I suppose is appropriate since she has the (most) fluctuant personality of all three.

The water is amazing... so wet and wavy.... And the pastel "sketch" below is enviable... in experience and execution. I have a tortoise/patterned cat... and her dark stripes make it a real challenge to paint or draw her so that she looks solid rather than just crazed. I hope your mid-life tides and currents settle down in a pleasant way soon.

I hope to have more art and photography on my blog soon. I tend to get lost in the news too...

Have a nice day and keep up the good work.

This is really nicely done. You have captured the quality of light on the water and on the figures so well. I have two daughters, aged 20 and 24, so this pastel piece has special resonance for me. I look forward to seeing more of what you do.
